Samuel Omondi
Everybody calls me Sammy.
I grew up in Kibera and I still live here. That is the short version, and it is also the whole point. The walk goes through my own neighbourhood, past people I know by name.
I started 4 years ago as a security guard, looking after tourists while somebody else showed them around. I listened to what those guides said about the place I am from. I worked out I could do it better, so I did.
Then I started the Kibera Kids Library. Children here need textbooks they do not have, and somewhere to read that is not the corner of a room. Now they have both, and it stays open because people book this walk.

How I work
On foot, at walking pace
No bus and no viewing platform. We walk, we stop, you talk to people, and we get into a matatu like everybody else.
I ask before you photograph
I ask people first, every time, and sometimes they say no. Nobody living here signed up to be a holiday photo.
Book me directly
No agency and no commission. What you pay is split between me and the library, half and half.
Any group, small or large
Two people or a whole school trip. Tell me the number and I will tell you how it works.
